This Thursday, the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) prohibited the elaboration, fractionation and commercialization throughout the national territory of a olive oil which they described as “illegal”.
The decision was communicated through the provision 2665/2023which was published in the Official Gazette under the signature of the head of the control body, Manuel Limeres.
Specifically, the product prohibited by the entity is the “Colonial brand olive oilprepared and packaged, RNE: 13002372 – RNPA: 13023770, Mendoza – Argentina”, in any presentation, batch and expiration date as a result of “lack of establishment and product registration and for being falsely labeled“.
The restriction by the body derived from an inspection of the Department of Food Hygiene of the province of Mendoza where it was detected that the product in question did not comply with current food regulations, since his RNE (National Establishment Registry) belonged to another registered company name.
ANMAT banned a well-known brand of car products
Consequently, the incident was notified to the Food Surveillance Information System (SIVA), belonging to the Federal Information System for Food Control Management (SIFeGA)who were able to determine that, indeed, the RNE and RNPA displayed on the product label were not valid.
Likewise, it was also detected that the exhibited RNPA (National Registry of Food Product) was nonexistentfor which seven units of the aforementioned product were seized.
In this way, “because it is a product that cannot be reliably and clearly identified as produced, prepared and/or divided in a specific establishment”, it was deemed an “illegal” item and proceeded to prohibit its preparation, fractionation and commercialization throughout the country.
“In order to protect the health of citizens against the consumption of illegal products, whenever they are food products that lack registration, so their traceability, their manufacturing conditions, their quality with adequate levels of control and its safety (…) It is recommended to prohibit the preparation, fractionation and commercialization throughout the national territory”, indicated the document issued by ANMAT.
