“MH370: the plane that disappeared” is the name of the docuseries that Netflix recently released about the mysterious disappearance of the plane of Malaysia Airlines which took off on March 8, 2014 from Kuala Lumpur airport bound for Beijing, China, and was never heard from again.
Nine years after the last time the control tower had contact with the aircraftthere are more doubts about the case than certainties.
what is known
The commercial plane with 239 passengers on board was to land in Beijing at 6:30 in the morning. The last time he communicated with air traffic controllers was at 1:21 in the morning and he lost radar contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control Center (Malaysia) at 2:40, one hour and fifty-nine minutes after takeoff.
At that time, the Boeing 777 had just entered the airspace of Vietnam and should have appeared on the radars of that country. However, the Vietnamese authorities denied having established contact with flight MH370.

The head of the Air Force Malaysia maintained that the military radar showed that after disappearing from the radar, the aircraft carried out a sharp turn to the southwesttowards Penang Island and then flew northwest through the Malacca Strait until 2:22 a.m. when it completely disappeared.
A week after the disappearance, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak, explained that, based on satellite data, the transponder and the encrypted communications system were intentionally disabled. In turn, the information provided by the radar was consistent with the deliberate action of a person who took control of the plane, which was quickly linked to a possible terrorist act.

After several weeks of searching in and around the waters of the Gulf of Thailand, where authorities and experts thought the plane might have gone down, new clues indicated that the aircraft had flown south into the Indian Ocean, very far from the mainland and even with little combustible.
One year after the disappearance, Australia and China, together with Malaysia, promised to continue the search and in July 2015, they found the first remains of the plane in the coast of Reunion Islandto the east of Madagascar. Six months later, more remains of the aircraft appeared on the coast of Mozambique.
Analyzes carried out by Australian experts also indicated that the place of discovery was “compatible with models of ocean currents.”
By January 17, 2017, the search was terminated, but the possibility of restarting it was open if new clues appeared.
To date, 19 pieces that could be from flight MH370 have been found on different islands in the Indian Ocean, but they do not help to solve the mystery, since the black boxes of the aircraft have not yet been found.
A few months ago, in November 2022, the authorities found one of the alleged landing gear hatches in the house of a fisherman in Madagascar, a finding that reinforces the theory that the plane hit the sea quickly and intentionally.

What could have happened
One hypothesis focuses on terrorism, due to two Iranian passengers who boarded with stolen passports, but was later ruled out.
Another theory points to the plane’s pilots and a possible hijacking of the aircraft. In June 2016, the FBI discovered that Capt. Zaharie Ahmad Shah he had made a flight with a route very similar to the one taken by MH370 in the airplane simulator at his house, about a month before the disappearance.
Through Microsoft Flight Simulator X software, he was able to recover the computer points of the program that pointed to the southern Indian Ocean, the place where the plane disappearedreinforcing the idea that the disappearance of the plane was an act that Zaharie had planned to do, perhaps as a form of suicide.
They closed the case on the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370
The funny thing is that Zaharie had no history of mental health, was described by his family as generous and kind, and was also an aviation expert. Some specialists suggest that he may have been forced to crash the plane, for some unknown reason, which would explain the flight simulator in his house.
In March 2022 they revealed that this aircraft model reported problems with the pressurization configuration of the aircraft eight months before the incident.
With the latest investigations everything seems to be that the captain wanted to return to the nearest point for an emergency landing due to the serious state of the aircraft.
The docuseries
“MH370, the plane that disappeared”, was released on March 8, the same day the plane disappeared. With three episodes and under the direction of Louise Malkinson, the miniseries recounts what happened to that Malaysia Airlines flight that, to this day, it is not known what happened.
Throughout the chapters, the testimonies of relatives of the passengers, authorities, aviation experts and Internet users who tried to contribute their knowledge to the investigation are collected.
The production is already among the 10 most viewed on Netflix Argentina.
