The Russian Justice sentenced a father to two years in prison for “discrediting the Russian Army” because her daughter drew a picture against the invasion of Ukraine.
In April of last year, Masha Moskaleva He had to make a drawing for his art class referring to the war conflict. The student of school No. 9 in the city of Efremov in the Tula region (south of Moscow), drew: Russian and Ukrainian flags with the words: “No to war” and “Glory to Ukraine”, and a woman with a child, over whom rockets fly from Russia.
As published by the Russian portal Ovd info, the school director, Larisa Trofimova, called the police. The next day, Masha was removed from the classroom and taken to the apartment together with her father and the guardianship service. The next day, the officers of the Russian secret service (FSB) spoke with the little girl.
As a consequence of that drawing, a protocol was drawn up against Aleksey Moskalev for discrediting the Russian army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). In addition, the Russian justice found that Aleksey Msokalev uploaded a video to the Odnoklassniki portal in which he declared that his daughter no longer wanted to go to school out of fear and classified the Russian army as: “The perpetrators are with us.” Based on these statements, he was fined 35 thousand rubles (a little more than 450 dollars).
The next day, father and daughter are taken to the Office for Minors. Moskalev is accused of raising his daughter “incorrectly”. The agents vandalized the interior of the house, Moskalev said. They ripped clothes from closets, ripped pictures from walls, and threw furniture. During that action, they confiscated the family’s savings, about $3,150, which immediately aroused the mistrust of officials: “Who pays you? Who do you work for?” Finally, they beat Aleksey Moskalev’s head against the wall and against the floor.

After the damage, father and daughter decided to hide in the neighborhood. But on March 1 they were discovered by the Police. Now they are threatened with a trial for “repeated discrediting of the Russian Army”. Aleksey Moskalev is also charged for critical posts against the Navy. The authorities started a process to withdraw the right to raise their daughter Masha, who is no longer allowed to live in their house, and was transferred to a children’s home. On March 27, the court decided that Aleksey should serve a two-year prison term.

Beyond the concern about the disappearance of the father, there is also concern about the whereabouts of his daughter. Olga Podoslskaia said that she tried several times to locate Masha Moskaleva, but there has been no trace of the girl for weeks. The deputy learned of a letter that Masha managed to write, and which ends with the sentence: “Dad, you are my hero!”
