After four months, the Salary Council will meet on the afternoon of this Tuesday, March 21 to set a new salary floor in the face of a rising inflationary context. Within this framework, there will be a mobilization of different organizations to the Ministry of Labor. Also this morning, Polo Worker will block streets and routes throughout the country demanding the “criminalization of the protest”.
The social temperature is at a boiling moment with a correlate of protest in the streets from the multiple factors that lacerate income. That is why this Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. there will be a meeting in the building of the Ministry of Labor that leads Raquel “Kelly” Olmos to treat a new increase in Minimum salary, vital and movil (SMVM).
32 members divided into business chambers, unions and members of the Executive will participate in the meeting, in what will be the first meeting of 2023. In November it was agreed that the SMVM would be $69.500 pesos and in four sections.
In this context, different piquetero and left-wing organizations will reach Leandro Alem 650 to demand “that the salary appear.” The concentration will begin at 10 in Independencia and on July 9. The Front of Organizations in Struggle (FOL), the Popular Front Darío Santillán (FPDS), the MTD Aníbal Verón, the Popular Resistance Movement (MRP), the Front of Grassroots Organizations (FOB) and the MTR for Direct Democracy will participate.
According to data from the Center for Research and Training of the Argentine Republic (CIFRA), which belongs to the Workers’ CTA, between November 2022 and March 2023 real wages fell by 5%, which means that the Council meeting of the Salary this Tuesday “will start from an extremely low floor in the value of the minimum wage.”
He also adds that if inflation continues with its upward trend in March (6.3%) and April (6%), “the minimum wage in that month would need to be $78,919 to recover the most recent loss and return to the actual level it was in December 2022; while it should reach $86,048 to recover what was lost since December 2019”.
Victoria Tolosa Paz: “Belliboni puts on a show and lies shamelessly”
The Polo Obrero will mobilize in 100 points of the country
After the day of struggle with camps in front of the Ministry of Social Development last week, the Polo Obrero will begin this Tuesday a day of roadblocks and mobilizations in several provinces to demand the freedom of two leaders detained in Mendoza seven days ago. It will be from 9 am and in the city of Buenos Aires it will affect the Pueyrredón Bridge and the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway.
Eduardo Belliboni, a reference to the Polo Obrero, told PROFILE that, at the same time that the cuts will begin, there will be a hearing with the detainees where a judge will see them for the first time. “If the compañeros are not released, we will continue with the measures of force. There are hundreds of defendants here in Mendoza ”, he asserted from the province of Cuyo.
In addition to clarifying that the protest depends on the outcome of the hearing and will be “permanent,” he detailed the situation of the detainees Martín Rodríguez and Lorena Torres. “They are in the Mendoza prison. They have been detained without cause and without any type of proof of crime, in an unconstitutional penal system. Due to a series of complaints from the government and addicted prosecutors, there is a violation of democratic rights and freedoms. They have been detained since last Tuesday and there has been no response. They went so far as to say that they protect the citizens from the piqueteros, as if they were not part of society. Both are Mendoza citizens, ”she criticized.
Consulted by the meeting of the Salary Council this Tuesday, he announced: “We are signing a declaration with unions and internal commissions. None of them are members of the CGT, but they are members of sectors of the labor movement, demanding an immediate increase in the minimum wage. We are going to be attentive to the possibility that if there is no protest, we will go out. We are eagerly awaiting that meeting. The CGT and the CTA go without any mandate. Today the minimum wage is in indigence”.
