Tomorrow when he has returned from a lightning visit to one of his daughters, who is in Spain, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta has in his mind balancing the balance between Martín Lousteau and Jorge Macri with an attempt at a Solomonic decision linked to the date and the way of the Buenos Aires elections, which will not affect the wishes of the radical senator.
At the same time, in these weeks the relationship with the head of radicalism Gerardo Morales, who is also in the presidential campaign, has cooled due to strong differences in the closures of at least four provinces.
Although he will try to hide it with a good personal relationship and with an objective fact: the UCR is divided and there is not a single interlocutor.
All crossed by days of total distance with Patricia Bullrich, whom in the Larretista environment they have been accusing of only supporting the candidates who play with her, whether or not they are from the PRO.
A case that circulated this week: a video of the head of the PRO where he supports the candidate for lieutenant governor of La Rioja de JxC, Guillermo Galván, but without mentioning the candidate for governor, Felipe Álvarez, close to Larreta.
The scene inside. The tension was seen in other provinces: in Chaco the bullrichista Juan Curuchet decided to prosecute the intervention of the PRO in charge of the deputy Laura Machado (of his own space) and the larretista Victoria Morales Gorleri.
In Tierra del Fuego the PRO ended out of JvC. Bullrich intervened the match. But the only PRO candidate, Héctor “Tito” Stefani, is on her side, with the support of Larreta, while she supports the formula of the radical Pablo Blanco and Federico Frigerio, of developmentalism.
In Tucumán, the head of government had managed to get Germán Alfaro to remain as vice president of the radical Roberto Sánchez for the governorship. Bullrich has not yet spoken but in a few days he will be there with an agenda put together by Pablo Walter, a former senator for that province.
All these political adventures have a reason for being for the former Minister of Security: she fears that the candidates who close agreements with the head of Government will not audit for her, that is why she chooses in each province according to loyalties, whether or not they are from the PRO. “She always plays everything for nothing”, they define her close to Larreta.
The links between the two are almost severed. There is not a single talk about the future post STEP.
One of the few who speaks with the former Minister of Security is the general secretary of the PRO, Eduardo Macchiavelli, but they got into several discussions about Salta and Tierra del Fuego.
They only reached an agreement with Mendoza, where the two presidential candidates decided to demand that congressman Omar de Marchi not break JxC there and that, if he wants to be a candidate, that he compete against Alfredo Cornejo on the Cambia Mendoza front.
Last Monday the communal chief heard the deputy’s refusal and thus Bullrich and Macchiavelli signed the party’s intervention.
Meanwhile, there is noise with Morales. In Neuquén – where the UCR put its candidate and the PRO adhered to the ticket of “Rolo” Figueroa -, in Tierra del Fuego, in Chubut (where there were closed inmates in Trelew ignoring the norm of the national JxC table) and in Jujuy Larretism was left mumbling anger for lack of agreements or very poor places on the ballots for the yellow party.
With everything these days in the Larretista bunker on Olazábal street in Belgrano they evaluated that he recovered the initiative, they assure that he is still between three and five points up in the PASO and reveal that he will return to Córdoba the last week of April to tour the south.
He will even be two or three times more in that province. In addition, he plans to go to Chaco and Catamarca. It continues with three times a week of trips plus the Conurbano.
At the same time, it will begin to be more assertive in its definitions with concrete proposals, as happened in Rosario when it launched six measures to fight drug trafficking.
To the limit. In the Buenos Aires chapter, Larreta has until Friday to decide when and how to vote. A 2019 law obliges him to unify the national elections with the ones in Buenos Aires – historically they were unfolded –, with which the decision that the City vote for its authorities on the same day that it elects a president is a fact.
The hypothesis that is gaining ground is that there are two ballot boxes, as requested by the radical senator, one for the Federal Capital and another for the national election.
“It’s ideal,” summed it up by one of the most trusted officials of the community chief. For this they will have to convince Jorge Macri that it could also serve him: the Buenos Aires Minister of Government had already expressed himself against it.
In this framework, the shape will also be a matter of debate: whether to use a single darkroom or two, the same with the table of authorities. What will surely be two different ballots.
From Spain Larreta let it be known that if Lousteau does not advance in this sense, with the UCR behind him and especially Daniel “el Tano” Angelici (the judicial operator who works in the senator’s candidacy) they could go to Justice and demand that it be enforced. the single ballot law or electronic voting, as in 2015 (with split elections).
“We want the best possible solution that harms the PRO as little as possible, but also does not harm the JvC coalition. But it is clear that we cannot shit on Martín ”, explains another of the Larretista advisers without filters.
What if Lousteau, angry, ends up playing outside? That could cause a ballotage with the PRO candidate, like in 2015, and there it would be luck or truth.
On the contrary, if it were a single ticket Lousteau could ask to take Larreta as a candidate for president and the political damage of saying “no” would trigger the relationship, they reason in Uspallata.
With these arguments, added to the fact that with two ballots the “Miilei effect” would not spill over into the Buenos Aires ballot because it would be on a different list (the national one), the head of government will communicate his decision in the next few hours.
