This Monday The thirteen will premiere the second season of “Argentina, land of love and revenge”. The telenovela that in 2019 achieved significant audience levels with a great commitment to production that recreated the 30s in Argentina. Period costumes, very well-achieved sets and a story that showed the immigration of Spaniards and Italians to our country in difficult times on the old continent.
After more than 200 chapters, the fiction of Adrian Suar It managed to be in prime time for a large part of the year, very well positioned, and with the promise in its last chapter to continue the story that the pandemic ended up postponing until 2023.
ATAV 2: what the new eltrece novel is about
The programming manager of El Trece and responsible for this production spoke at the presentation of the first chapter and said: “The truth is that it is a very special night for El Trece, for Polka, for national fiction and for the actors. After a year and a half, the channel once again has a fiction, with all that that represents, with the nerves, the commitment, the desire that people have. It’s been a long time since I heard on the street ‘national fiction returns, Argentine actors return, we see our things again’ that this is important, whoever does it”.
Undoubtedly, in times where the rating defines everything, for Suar it is a huge bet not only artistically but also, and mainly, economically. Already in the first episode you can see a great adaptation to the decade of the ’80s, where this season will be inspired. Adrian said in this regard: “For us, the first season of ATAV filled us with joy, it was a fantastic experience with the people. It took us a while to see what the second step was. We were between the ’60s and ’70s, but then we focused on it and made the leap. The first season ended in ’45 and we move on to the ’80s. Having some characters that are the grandchildren of the first part of the novel, with everything that represents that time, the beginning of democracy, the end of the dictatorship, all the historical events that happened in the ’80s. A fantastic time not only musically, but also in the stories we can tell”.

Before a packed room, last Monday the episode that will be seen this Monday at 10:15 p.m. on the El Trece screen was screened for the press and the cast. With an ovation from those present, the protagonists saw the first positive impression of the journalists who attended the venue.
It is important to mention that the details that unite, up to now, the second with the first season. Something that allows you to see the novel without the need to remember facts or have seen the first part. The story takes place after the return to democracy in Argentina, with images that are mixed between real footage of the moment and fiction itself.
ATAV 2: all the details of Anita, the character of Justina Bustos
From what was seen in the first episode, he takes the most stormy and reprehensible years of our past with absolute seriousness. The moment where little by little the de facto government was falling, leaving thousands dead and missing. But the hope of a return to democracy is well marked in ATAV 2 and the return of those who had to go into exile in other countries becomes the kickoff of the story that will constantly travel between a recent and dark past and a present that promises changes and recover what was lost.
We were able to see in 2019 how a soap opera showed what was happening in Argentina in the 1930s but also what happened in Spain with the civil war that caused the arrival of immigrants to this side of the world. On this occasion, we can see that the plot is almost 100% national, reflecting what happened here. Although the stories told are not true, we were able to observe how the characters and their situations are contextualized with the reality that was happening in those years.

The magazine as the main genre of Argentine theater, macho humor, the treatment of women, the existing marginality towards homosexuals, the discriminatory treatment given to HIV, the confused transition from dictatorship to democracy with opinions in favor and against, complicity, taboo subjects, are some of the key themes that allow us to travel back in time and see what we feel so far away today.
“Argentina, land of love and revenge” will allow the new generations to learn more about how stormy the ’70s were and the times of change that marked the following decade. But it will also show us a very different panorama from the current one, colliding with words, jokes and actions that we are currently trying to eliminate definitively.
